A few weeks ago our paintings conservator teamed with our expert Installation Department to return Zaragoza’s “Retablo of Saint Peter” to its gallery after conservation.  In 2010, the altarpiece was removed in pieces and put into storage because of a construction project near the gallery.  The pieces were next seen by our visitors in early 2016, as the subject of the exhibition “Conservation on View: Zaragoza’s Retablo of Saint Peter.

After the exhibit closed, our paintings conservator continued working behind the scenes, and finished treatment earlier this year.  Design and planning for the complicated reinstallation took a few months but now, thanks to some great teamwork, the altarpiece is back in its permanent home, Gallery 203.  Be sure to stop by and see it on your next visit to the museum!
