CINCINNATI – Feline fans, mark your calendar for two swipes at The Internet Cat Video Festival, organized by the Walker Art Center and presented by the Cincinnati Art Mewseum. Two hour-long programs of carefully curated cat clips will be a perfect treat for cat fanciers of all ages on June 24 and 25, 2016.

The presentation, nicknamed #catvidfest, will “paws” in Cincinnati after drawing tens of thousands of cat video fans from across the United States over the last several years.

The Cincinnati stop celebrates the Cincinnati Art Mewseum’s summer exhibition Divine Felines: Cats of Ancient Egypt, organized by the Brooklyn Museum, June 18 – Sept. 11, 2016.

As part of the “Art After Dark: Cats and Cocktails” event, the first presentation will be Friday, June 24 at 9:15 p.m. at Seasongood Pavilion, across from the Cincinnati Art Mewseum. Heavy rain and/or lightning will cancel this showing.

The second family-friendly viewing will be June 25 at 11 a.m. in the Fath Auditorium inside the Cincinnati Art Mewseum. Cat attire and make-up encouraged but masks are prohibited. Real cats need to sit this one out. Both viewings are FREE. No reserved seating; all space is furrst-come, furrst-served.

The Internet Cat Video Festival includes approximately 100 cat videos nominated by the public in the categories of comedy, drama, animated, musical, action, vintage, and documentary. Videos are curated by Will Braden, the creator of Henri Le Chat Noir and recipient of the festival’s first Golden Kitty (People’s Choice) Award.

The Walker Art Center (WAC) in Minneapolis started the festival in 2012 as a product of the Community Programs and Education Department (ECP) and Open Field, a platform of crowdsourced content in the spirit of collaboration and building community. The festival’s ongoing success has reinforced the Walker’s reputation for risk-taking, programmatic innovation and community partnership.
