Building Pictures: Édouard BaldusBuilding Pictures presents a dozen photographs in the Cincinnati Art Museum collection by Édouard Baldus, the leading architectural photographer in France during the 1850s and ’60s. Featuring images of the Louvre, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and other buildings and engineering feats throughout the country, this display demonstrates Baldus’s mastery of the new medium. Aesthetically pleasing, technically sophisticated, and an influence upon generations of photographers, Baldus’s images set the standard for representing architecture and detailed the emerging modern landscape.
