Lecture: Lucas Cranach and Painting in the Age of Dürer with Peter Bell, Associate Curator of European Paintings, Sculpture and Drawings

11/16/2017 at 7 - 8 p.m.

Join Peter Jonathan Bell, Associate Curator of European Paintings, Sculpture and Drawings, for this exploration of the small panel painting of Saint Helena with the Cross by Lucas Cranach the Elder that has hung at the Cincinnati Art Museum since 1927. Albrecht Dürer and Cranach influenced one another, especially as printmakers, but both artists were also masters of the relatively new medium of oil paint. Saint Helena and the works in the Albrecht Durer: The Age of Reformation and Renaissance provide a window onto two of the preeminent artistic personalities of the northern Renaissance. Members and students FREE, general admission, $10.Reservations recommended.
