Touch Tour: Legendary Women
Saturday June 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
Come for a touch tour and explore Legendary Women in the art museum’s collection. During this interactive experience visitors will explore a combination of paintings and sculptures representing powerful ladies.
One of the five pieces we will be visiting is the painting Ophelia and Laertes by Benjamin West. It depicts a scene from William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” in whicha women named Ophelia is acting irrational in front of a king and queen. Participants will feel fabrics that connect to the characters, listen to a clip of a deranged Ophelia, and have a chance to talk about the artist, the piece, and the play “Hamlet”.
