Artists throughout history have created in measures from miniature to monumental. The artworks in these galleries, made from 1967–2022, are drawn from the Cincinnati Art Museum’s contemporary collections. These 40 works represent multiple media and styles carried out in expansive scale and vision.
Acquired by the museum and its curators over five decades, a number of these works are seldom seen due to space limitations. Working artists from Cincinnati Art Museum’s installation and conservation teams guided the selections from the collection. Responding to these voices, Think Big positions renowned regional artist-educators in dialogue with international gallery artists. New insights arise by way of these interrelationships and their historical context within the museum.
An additional 15 works are installed upstairs in the museum’s third-floor galleries (G301-G303) in the former Barnhorn-Duveneck teaching studio.
