Evenings for Educators — Nancy Rexroth: Secrets of My Power

With resonance and influence far beyond her Ohio roots, Cincinnati-based artist, and educator Nancy Rexroth created a body of images that stands as a unique achievement in photographic history. Through her signature use of low-tech equipment, Rexroth rendered the rural world around Athens, Ohio, into dreamlike narratives, offering educators a compelling model for teaching storytelling, atmosphere, and personal vision through photography. Rexroth will be honored in their first retrospective exhibition—a featured exhibition of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial, The Long View—and accompanying catalog, marking the public debut of an archive that allows unprecedented and comprehensive insight into the artist’s life and work. Participants will enjoy dinner, a guided exhibition tour led by Nathaniel M. Stein, Curator of Photography, and a hands-on art-making activity inspired by the exhibition.

About Evenings for Educators

A monthly professional development that explores visual art through a STREAM-focused interdisciplinary lens, welcoming educators of all disciplines and supporting teachers at every stage of their careers—from emerging to experienced teachers. Drawing on the museum’s collection and special exhibitions, each session offers cross-curricular insights that support a wide range of classroom and community-based learning environments. Emphasizing creative, critical, and collaborative approaches aligned with best practices in Twenty-First Century Learning strategies, the program is open to school-based and community educators alike—including teachers of all grade levels and subjects, teaching artists, pre-service education majors, volunteers, and museum professionals. 

Continuing education certificates are provided. Graduate credits are available for an additional fee through the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
