Conservation for the upcoming Duveneck exhibition continues apace. Sometimes it even fills up our Behind the Scenes spaces. These six paintings were recently in the paintings conservation studio at the same time. Cleaning of the painting on the easel (“Beechwoods at Polling, Bavaria”) had just been completed. It will soon be on its way to be photographed for the exhibition catalog. The five other paintings have been re-framed after both the paintings and the frames were conserved.
They will go to storage for now, while more paintings for the exhibit will cycle into the paintings studio for conservation --- and future blog posts. All the conserved paintings, and more, will be revealed when Frank Duveneck: American Master opens in November 2020.
