CINCINNATI— Cincinnati Art Museum’s last Art After Dark of 2019 will be celebrated on one of the biggest party nights of the year.

At the Cincinnati Art Museum’s FREE night-before-Thanksgiving celebration Art After Dark: Girl Power!, visitors can celebrate special exhibition Women Breaking Boundaries and the #PowerofHer on Wednesday, November 27, 5–9 p.m.

Art After Dark guests will enjoy live music from female-fronted punk band Leggy, food for purchase, specialty cocktails and free admission to special exhibitions Treasures of the Spanish World, Women Breaking Boundaries, and The Levee: A Photographer in the American South.

Women Breaking Boundaries (on view through April 12, 2020) celebrates women in art and art history through works from the museum’s permanent collection from the seventeenth century to today. The special exhibition is the museum’s main contribution and focal point to the larger ArtsWave Power of Her program. A city-wide initiative of Cincinnati art organizations, the Power of Her marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment.

The timeline for Art After Dark includes:

  • 5–6 p.m.: Happy hour on beer, wine and cocktails. Guests 21+ only.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Food available for purchase from Eli’s BBQ (while supplies last.)
  • 6, 7, 7:30 p.m.: Docent-guided tours of special exhibition Women Breaking Boundaries. Free admission. RSVP not required.
  • 8 p.m.: Docent-guided tour of special exhibition Treasures of the Spanish World. Free admission. RSVP not required.
  • 6:30–8:30 p.m.: Live music from Leggy.

In 2020, the first Art After Dark event will be held on Friday, January 31 and will continue on the final Friday of each month through October.

Art After Dark is free and open to the public. Parking is free. To learn more, visit cincinnatiartmuseum.org/artafterdark. Art After Dark is sponsored by P&G, Dewey’s Pizza, Cincinnati CityBeat, and 91.7 WVXU Cincinnati.
