Featuring approximately 150 works by the beloved mid-century modern artist, designer, illustrator and nature advocate, this is the first career-spanning museum retrospective of works by Cincinnati art icon Charley Harper. A student-turned-educator at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Harper’s use of vibrant color and “minimal realism” transform seemingly simple images of animals and nature into deeper explorations of the relationship between wild spaces and human development. Participants will enjoy dinner, a presentation by the museum’s Curator of American Paintings, Sculpture, and Drawings Julie Aronson, PhD, Curator, free access to the exhibition, and guided art-making experience inspired by the exhibition.
Evenings for Educators is the museum’s monthly professional development program for teachers. Through the lens of the museum’s collection and exhibitions, Evenings for Educators supports all subjects taught in the classroom. It also encourages a STREAM approach, as well as Twenty-First Century Learning strategies. The program is offered for teachers of all grade levels and disciplines, art appreciation volunteers, pre-service education majors, teaching artists, as well as community and museum educators.
