Conservation can take you strange places--like up a ladder in a 1929 bedroom! Here, our textile conservator is installing reproduction window valances and curtains in our new exhibition, Unlocking an Art Deco Bedroom by Joseph Urban.
We built a room! And brought to life an interior design based on surviving objects and historic photographs. You can see one of the reference photographs sitting on the floor.
While a little out-of-the-ordinary for a conservator to make reproduction draperies, it was just one of the many ways this exhibition has drawn upon the broad rainbow of skills available amongst talented staff of the Cincinnati Art Museum.
We are excited for you to come experience this cool thing we did—a 1929 bedroom!—and the rest of the exhibition, opening Friday, July 8 and running through October 2.
