The summer heat is back, and it’s not always easy to be outdoors when Cincinnati weather won’t cooperate! The Rosenthal Education Center is open and ready for art-making fun all summer long for the whole family. Here are some ways to beat the rainy/humid season:

  • Check out our Artist in Residence Karen Saunders’ new installation You and Me and the Space Between: Our Expedition Starts Now. Touch and explore Karen’s exhibit and learn about different artworks from the museum’s collection.

  • Make an original artwork inspired by Karen’s installation! Right now, you can make a texture painting by attaching textured materials onto a printed-out painting from the museum’s collection.

  • Make a 2D or 3D artwork at the Art Bar using recycled materials donated by local art thrift store, Indigo Hippo.

  • Grab a REC activity booklet and complete the scavenger hunt inside the museum for a special prize.

  • Check out the Tiny Artists Library & Playspace for children’s books, sensory toys, and imaginative play for your littlest ones.

  • Join us for REC Reads and RECreate this summer:

REC Reads
This fun and interactive 45-minute program gets your little ones excited about art in a fun and interactive way. Join us every first and third Wednesday of the month for a fun-filled story time. From June until the end of August, REC Reads will offer gallery scavenger hunts in place of art making due to higher attendance. Toddlers and preschoolers. 11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m. Free.

RECreate
On the second Sunday of each month during You and Me and the Space Between: Our Expedition Starts Now, drop by the REC and meet REC Artist in Residence Karen Saunders and create a special work of art to take home. All ages. 1–3 p.m. Free.

The Rosenthal Education Center is open during the museum’s regular operating hours. No reservations required. Admission is free.
