CINCINNATI — August 21, 2024 —The Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM) proudly introduces the CAM Cruiser, an “art studio on wheels” that provides creative experiences and engagement for all ages.

CAM’s community engagement team has hosted many art-making and engagement activities in Greater Cincinnati communities for decades. But the CAM Cruiser will take these offerings to new levels. Traveling to Tri-State area festivals and outdoor events, libraries and nonprofit organizations, the Cruiser will provide an array of staff-guided educational and fun art-making activities and introduce new audiences to the museum.

Importantly, the Cruiser will bring art to rural areas and underserved neighborhoods and offer workshops, lectures and interactive activities.

“The CAM Cruiser allows the museum to reach local communities in a new way, meeting audiences where they are, and offering different opportunities to look at and create art,” says Carrie Atkins Maras, Assoc Director of Community Engagement. “We cannot wait to hit the road!”

The van boasts two 50-inch TVs that will display high-quality digital images, an electric awning to provide shade for art makers, speakers and custom built-in storage cabinets.

The CAM Cruiser will play an important role in expanding the museum’s community impact and outreach—a priority area in its most recent strategic plan—and, more broadly, will help CAM carry out its mission of contributing to a more vibrant Cincinnati by inspiring its people and connecting communities.

The CAM Cruiser is available to visit festivals, events, libraries and nonprofit organizations serving the community. Email [email protected] to request the Cruiser for your next event and check out the museum’s website to learn where the Cruiser will appear next. Also follow along at #CAMCruiser on social media. About the Cincinnati Art Museum

One of the oldest arts institutions in the United States, and the first purpose-built art museum west of the Allegheny Mountains, the Cincinnati Art Museum features a diverse, encyclopedic art collection of more than 73,000 works spanning 6,000 years. In addition to displaying its own broad collection, the museum conducts extensive research and creates and organizes several exhibitions each year. It also hosts national and international traveling exhibitions. Through these critical projects and art-related programs, activities, and special events, the museum contributes to a more vibrant Cincinnati by inspiring its people and connecting its communities.

The Cincinnati Art Museum is supported by the generosity of individuals and businesses that give annually to ArtsWave. The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Cincinnati Art Museum with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. The Cincinnati Art Museum gratefully acknowledges operating support from the City of Cincinnati, as well as its members.
