David Driskell:
My notion of, of trying to extend that vision beyond the ordinary is what I think we do when we see outside of race. When we see outside of class, when we see outside of our usual domain. And so for me, it’s been important to embrace all of these subjects, and no one person owns, has ownership of that. It’s floating up there and in the words of Plato, in the realm of perfection, and it’s up to you to pull it out and bring it into existence. And that’s what the artist does through causation. And so, I have no tolerance for those who feel that they own the subject by themselves regardless of race, we are human beings and we should embrace it from the point of view of our human good.
