CINCINNATI— Get in the spirit of the season at the Cincinnati Art Museum with festive holiday events and activities in November and December.
In addition to the museum’s encyclopedic permanent collection, the holidays are a wonderful time to explore special exhibitions, including The Fabric of India, Life: Gillian Wearing and Collecting Calligraphy: Arts of the Islamic World.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and will only be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Beyond the art galleries, several holiday happenings are in store.
Tibetan monks sacred sand art creation
November 13–18, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Thursdays
Tibetan monks will visit the Cincinnati Art Museum to create a sacred sand mandala in the museum’s Great Hall. FREE.
Art After Dark: Confess Yourself
November 21, 5–9 p.m.
Celebrate Thanksgiving Eve and explore your identity during this month’s Art After Dark. Enjoy live performances from DJ Mowgli, Black Signal and Pones; an interactive photo booth; food for purchase from Eli’s BBQ; specialty cocktails; docent-led tours and free exhibition access. FREE.

Holiday Expressions Trunk Show
November 16–18, 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Find artful gifts for everyone on your list, as well as the perfect piece of festive jewelry to wear to holiday gatherings! Local artists, designers and authors will be on-site to personalize your gifts. Shoppers will receive 10 percent off all purchases (20 percent for members) and complimentary holiday giftwrap throughout the entire Trunk Show event.
REC the HALLS
December 1–30, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Thursdays
Bring the whole family to the museum for holiday art-making activities, including card-making, gift bag embellishment, ornament crafts and more at the Rosenthal Education Center (REC). FREE.
Young Professionals’ Choral Collective performances
December 6 and 13, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Be serenaded by the Young Professionals’ Choral Collective of Cincinnati (YPCC)! Gather in the Great Hall for a cappella performances of your favorite holiday tunes and carols. FREE.
Museum Holiday Market: Spice up your holidays
December 10, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
The Cincinnati Art Museum’s Women’s Committee presents its annual Holiday Market. This event features lunch and a presentation by Rita Nader Heikenfeld, herbalist, author, cooking teacher, media personality and founding editor of Abouteating.com. The museum’s Great Hall and several first floor galleries will be fully stocked with holiday treasures from local vendors. Tickets are $65 and can be reserved by calling (513) 639-2964.
Cincinnati Black Santa visits CAM
December 15, 12–4 p.m.
Cincinnati Black Santa Claus is coming to the Cincinnati Art Museum! This is the fourth year in a row for Santa, who looks forward to greeting children of all ages, reviewing Christmas lists and have pictures taken, thanks to the Voice of Black Cincinnati. FREE.
Belle Voci women’s chorus performance
December 16, 3–4 p.m.
De-stress from holiday hustle and bustle with a soothing, sophisticated choral performance by Belle Voci, a Cincinnati Youth Choir alumni chorus. Meet in the Great Hall. FREE.
