Davis [his sale, Sotheby's London, May 18, 1949, lot 75, as by Ugolino, sold for 340 pounds to:] [Baer [2]]; [Ettore Sestieri, Rome, before 1953, as by Ambrogio Lorenzetti]' Duke and Duchess of Talleyrand-Perigord, Paris, by 1953, when given to the CAM. Notes: [1] The following inscription on the back of the panel places the painting in Perugia in 1840: "Gekauft in Perugia von (?) 25 November 1840 Lamnertz." [2] Possibly H. Baer, a London dealer on Davis Street, as suggested by Jack Baer of Hazlitt, Gooden & Fox, Ltd. Correspondence, July 3, 1992.
