New York, May 1952 to November 1968, later wholly owned by [3]); (Pinakos, Inc. New York, 1869-ca. 1976); ( Heinemann Gallery, New York, consigned to); (Thomas Agnew and Sons, London, 1976 to 1980, sold to; Cincinnati Art Musuem, 1980-present. Notes: [1] Ellis was pronounced 1st Baron of Mendip in 1794. The painting was engraved for John Boydell in 1785 while in Ellis' collection. [2] Correspondence, November 11, 1992. [3] M. Knoedler & Co. sold its share in the painting to Pinakos, Inc. in 1968. Pinakos, Inc. was owned by Rudolf Heinemann [d. 1975], proprietor of the Heinemann Gallery.
