(Herwarth Walden, Galerie der Sturm, Berlin, 1922, sold to); Arthur Kaufmann [1888-1971], Düsseldorf, 1922-? [1]. Thomas C. Adler, Cincinnati, until 1955, given to; Cincinnati Art Museum, 1955-present. Notes: [1] The December 5, 1955, inventory of Thomas C. Adler's collection states that Arthur Kaufmann purchased the painting from Herwarth Walden, director of Sturm Gallery in 1922. The records also show that the painting was included in an International Art Exhibition in Düsseldorf in 1922. Kaufmann, an artist, was instrumential in organizing the Düsseldorf exhibition. In 1933 he moved to The Netherlands and then in 1936 settled in the United States. It is unknown when or where he sold the painting.
