Church of San Miguel, Villalpando, Spain [1]. Collection Busquets [2]. (Collection Schaeffer [2]). (Kurt Gratwohl, Zurich, sold to); Cincinnati Art Museum, 1959-present. Notes: [1] The panel was originally part of an altarpiece dedicated to St. Michael. It hung in the church of San Miguel in Villalpando, Spain. [2] José Gudiol stated in correspondence with the CAM that the retablo of San Miguel from Villalpando was formerly in the collections Schaeffer and Busquets. The Schaeffer collection may refer to the dealer Hanns Schaeffer, as he offered another panel from the Villalpando retablo to the CAM in 1959. Letter from Gudiol dated March 1, 1959, with attached list of works by Francés.
