It includes a notation concerning the early provenance of the painting, signed by Mariam Shaw Haughton and dated April 1942. [2] The Strietmanns offered the painting to the Museum with life interest reserved in 1954. The painting came under the Museum's care in 1961. Strietmann probably acquired the painting directly from Schneider-Gabriel Galleries sometime after April 1942, and passed the informational packet (see fn. 1) on to the CAM, but no specific date of sale is recorded.
