In the past centuries, when few women found success as professional artists, a surprising number of them had productive careers as miniature painters. Mighty Women in Miniature examines these artists who went beyond the culturally accepted boundaries of womanhood. Close to sixty works will be on view, each having a fascinating story to tell. The display spans five centuries, from Levina Teerlinc working in the sixteenth century to Violet Brunton-Angless painting in the 1930s.
