Canceled—Creating Connections: Panel Discussion

Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 6:30–8 p.m.

This event has been canceled.

Once described as folk artists and outsider artists, self-taught artists are of thriving interest to collectors and museums alike. How is our understanding of the work of self-taught artists changing? Join Julie Aronson, curator of Creating Connections: Self-Taught Artists in the Rosenthal Collectionas she moderates a panel of regional speakers to discuss the shifting relationships between self-taught artists, museums, dealers, and collectors.

Panel participants include Flávia Bastos, Ph.D., Distinguished Research Professor of Art Education in the School of Art, College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) and Interim Associate Dean at the Graduate School at the University of Cincinnati; Geoffrey “Skip” Cullen, Exhibitions Director for Visionaries + Voices; and Nannette Maciejunes, former Executive Director of the Columbus Museum of Art.

*Please note: Museum lectures will take place in Gallery 105 during the renovation of the lower level.
