Join us for our second Evening with an Artist! This program is designed for college students and teachers interested in meeting local working artists and educators. Hear from a local artist or educator, enjoy a sampling of their work, and ask questions!
Since moving to Cincinnati in 2021, Jim Tucker has worked with ArtWorks, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. As a muralist, he has produced and painted more than 20 murals, created in collaboration with ArtWorks, and many becoming landmarks of the Cincinnati area. In 2022, Jim became the co-artist-in-residence for the Cincinnati Art Museum's Rosenthal Education Center, where he co-created with Michael Thompson an interactive installation enjoyed by more than 50,000 museum visitors.
In 2023, Jim opened “Studio Beechmont” in Cincinnati’s Mt. Washington neighborhood. While primarily functioning as his studio, Studio Beechmont’s mission is designed to support the artistic needs of the blossoming Mt. Washington community. Beginning in spring 2024, Jim has served as artist in residence for ArtWorks’ V2 program. Here, Jim mentors eight fellows in his techniques which the fellows then apply to their own artistic endeavors. Jim made this body of work [for the V2 program] in response to the Walnut Hills community.
Along with his fine art and mural practices, Jim works as an Illustrator and commercial artist. He uses his bold, dynamic style and love of storytelling to bring his client’s ideas to life. These include Arizona State University, the Western & Southern Tennis Tournament, BrewDog USA, and several other Ohio-based breweries.
