One graduate credit is available through the Art Academy of Cincinnati for an additional fee. All registered teachers will receive an email with the agenda for each day. Please provide an email address where we can reach you during the summer months. Registration is limited to 30.

Teachers of all grade levels and disciplines, homeschool teachers, art advocates, art appreciation volunteers, pre-service education majors, and teaching artists, as well as community and museum educators, are encouraged to attend. The program investigates diverse teaching strategies for object-based learning as well as STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, Math) connections for pre-K through 12th-grade classrooms.

This summer, enjoy a focus on exploring symbols in art throughout our collection. We will be learning about how to create symbols and an artistic identity by investigating various mediums including painting, textiles. and clay. Learn more about the work of local artist Cedric Michael Cox our keynote speaker, who is best known for his paintings and drawings that merge surrealism and representational abstraction. Cox will then lead a painting workshop. In addition to painting, teachers will also create several textile-based works focused on developing a unique symbol, guided by local fabric artists. Working in clay, creative writing prompts, a docent guided tour plus, and networking with fellow educators will be included. Breakfast and lunch will be served all three days.
