Shahzia Sikander: Collective Behavior

The Cincinnati Art Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art are co-organizing a major survey of Pakistani-American artist Shahzia Sikander (b. 1969, Lahore, Pakistan) at the Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel in Venice. A Collateral Event of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Shahzia Sikander: Collective Behavior is the most comprehensive presentation of the artist’s work to date, bringing together more than 30 works made over three and a half decades, including new site-specific drawings and glasswork created for this exhibition. The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century showcases more than 100 works of art by some of today’s most important and celebrated artists—such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roberto Lugo, Carrie Mae Weems, William Cordova, Hassan Hajjaj, Hank Willis Thomas—and fashion brands, with looks from Cross Colours and Vivienne Westwood.

From Shanghai to Ohio: Woo Chong Yung (1898–1989) features nearly 100 works, including painting and calligraphy, carved seals, and a Taiji sword drawn from the collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum and The Frank Museum of Art at Otterbein University.
